Quality control

Since 2000, OŻB has had a certified quality management system ISO:9001. The quality control department monitors the parameters of manufactured products on an ongoing basis, performing continuous tests of chemical composition and mechanical properties, and then develops and statistically analyses the results obtained. The quality control department is equipped with:

  • “NIKON ECLIPSE MA100N” microstructure microscope,
  • “SPECTROMAXx” emission spectrometer,
  • “Quick-lab E4” freezing point curve analyser,
  • strength testing machine
  • “ITA Inspekt Table 250 KN”,
  • “FARO Quantum E 2.5m 7 axis” measurement arm.

In 2000, the Bydgoszcz Iron Foundry was the first among the manufacturers of brake shoe inserts to obtain an ISO certificate confirming the high quality of castings. We also have a pressure certificate.

We have subordinated the production process to quality and control procedures. The tests cover both the chemical composition of castings, as well as their strength, hardness and metallography. Our product identification system allows for determining the time of creation of specific casting series with an accuracy of up to eight hours.

Due to strict compliance with standards, we have gained the trust of Polish and foreign contractors. Recognising our brake shoes as exemplary, the Chief Railway Inspectorate allowed them for indefinite production. Their reliability was also appreciated by partners from other countries. We are certified by German DB railways, French SNCF, Belgian SNCB, Czech CD, as well as Russian RŻD and Ukrainian UZ railways.
